The guild is putting together the Fiber of the Month program for this year. The first fiber will be available at the November 19th meeting if all goes according to plan. This year’s plan is to use a specific fleece with a monthly challenge plus a few other fibers to round things out. The goal is to stay near last year’s cost of $35, however, we need to have a count of persons participating and then to figure out the shipping cost. Thus the price could be up to $45. The shipping cost we are talking about is to get the fiber shipped from the vendor to the guild, no fiber will be shipping to individuals this year. You can come to the monthly meeting to get your fiber or designate someone else to pick it up if you can’t make it to the meeting.
If you want to participate, you need to let the guild know as soon as possible. We must know by Friday, October 11th. An email with a survey was sent to the mailing list. You can fill out the survey or email the guild directly if you want to sign up.
If you don’t know what Fiber of the Month is, here’s an introduction. Each month you get a different fiber sample. It’s typically 1 ounce, but can vary if the fiber is very expensive or difficult to get. You take your sample home and spin it during the month, then bring it back to the next meeting. It gives you experience with a wider variety of fibers and you can compare with other people in the guild. You might find a new favorite fiber!
